I remember doing that when I was young -- not a teen, but a preteen, like 11. I'd hope by the time someone is old enough to drive, they wouldn't do that... Anyway, there were a couple of reasons. One, theres the general disdain for any sort of 'authority' thats just part of being a teen, and doing dumb stuff like that made me feel more powerful as I was just getting to the age where I realized if I didn't do what I was told, the world wouldn't come crashing down. Also, to show off for friends by letting them see how 'bad' I was -- which sounds dumb, but when you're 11..
