Interesting question. While I have certainly enjoyed my share of sexual encounters with no relationship attached, in most cases, somewhere in the midst of it all, his thrusts feel like a paring tool whittling away at me, slicing out all that is uniquely and specially me. His kiss is a false promise, as is mine. Ugh, no thanks, not anymore. Sure, I might enjoy the physical sensation of that other body, but not fully, not wholly, unless that body is attached to a brain that loves my pinky-toes, my morning silliness, and knows that I’d rather fall over dead than drink white zinfandel. Fulfillment is attainable only when two entire people are invloved, not just their interlocking chunks of flesh. Can you tell I’ve been without a lover for a while, but I’d rather wait a bit and get it right again, rather than only get a piece (no pun intended)?
