I am not vain or egotistical, but I’ve been labeled as one of the ‘beautiful people,’ and all I ever face is prejudice. Not racial prejudice, but societal prejudices. To some, I’m a pretty-boy who’s gotten everything because of my looks. I’m constantly approached by gay men and women of all ages who ‘think’ I’m a boy-toy (even though I’m married). Before I got married, I couldn’t find a woman of substance because I ‘looked’ like a party-boy (some people believe that beautiful people are shallow). I’m not taken seriously in business settings until I rattle off something ‘academic.’ I’m challenged regularly by men who believe I’m ‘soft’ or too pretty to be tough. I’m constantly being judged by others solely based on my appearance. I’m thankful for my looks, but it’s more work than one would think. I’m continually fighting against social stereotypes, having to disprove preconceived notions about pretty people.
