Wow, I thought this must be a Jacksonville thing. Frankly, I think “flamboyant” is an understatement. Every black person I encounter, whether it be in Walgreens or Walmart, is either singing loudly to themselves and/or dancing, and/or talking loudly on the phone or to someone else. Usually their outfits are as loud as they are. I guess modesty and being humble don’t exist in black culture. What is it about having to stick out so much?

Whatever you do, don’t speak louder – that just makes you look stupid. And don’t speak a whole lot slower, just speak “EASIER”. Don’t act like you’re talking to a three year old, but don’t use complicated grammar either. Imagine your level of proficiency in a foreign language and how hard it would be. I’ve seen so many cashiers at my job speaking to foreign customers in their same, waytoofast, too much slang and no context English and it only leads to more confusion.
