Being 20 and a woman, I stare at all men. Plus I stare at women (you have to know the competition). To be serious, I am from the North and moved to Georgia. I had never really encountered racism before I came here. I am white but speak differently from them, so I have been termed a ‘Damn Yankee.’ And I do get stared at like I am from another planet. I try to be respectful when trying to figure out if someone speaks English, but somehow I feel foolish asking someone if they speak English. I have learned some Spanish and apologetically tell everyone my Spanish is bad so that when they reply I can use English or Spanish. Could you let me know what is the polite way to ask?

I work with several several Mexicans ( I dont know if they are legal or not) and everyone gets paid the same. Most cant speak English and they still get paid the same. Please dont take offense. My boyfriend is a Mexican and I am trying to learn as much as I can about the culture and the rules. Also my experience with other races is very limited so any insight would be helpful. thanks

He calls me his guada. In spanish that is white women, or American women. I noticed everyone else called me guada also. So I asked (angrily for I decided it was an insult)’How would you like it if I called you a mexican all the time?!’ To my suprise they all laughed! They told me ‘We came from Mexico we are Mexicans. That is not a bad thing. You are white and from american so you are a guada. That is not a bad thing.’ To some mexicans it is in fact considered a good thing to be from a place as free as America. So no it is not an insult. You should be proud they liked you enough, and felt comfortable enough to affectionalty call you by a nick name.

I could not understand and later asked the counsler I seen why. The counsler told me rape is striclty for control. Few people acually rape for the sexual pleasure. Rape is a crime of power. GHB makes the victim totally helpless and therefore gives the rapist total and complete power. Sorry if my reply is to long.

I have friends of all classs’s My family was poor but very clean. I have noticed and wondered why poor equals dirty also. Its a matter of why the person is poor. We were poor because my mom was working to support 3 kids alone. My boyfriends parents are poor because she is an alcholic and a into drugs really badly. In all my experiences the cases have been the same exactly. I people are poor because they wont work (laziness) or because drugs and acohol take all there money (or gambling) they generally dont clean either.
