I think it’s in you’re head. Along the same vein, I can ask why every white male I’ve met over the age of 25 somehow thinks I’m stupid. I’ve met my share of white men who give off that vibe, but not many. That doesn’t make me brand all white people that way.

It’s just a matter of reversal of roles. A black person who goes to a predominantly white college (like I do) feels the same way. I think it’s a matter of being comfortable outside your race.

The other ideas about blacks being prejudiced are silly. How can white people maintain that they are ‘victims of prejudice’ by blacks? We don’t have the power. Either way, a white person has a better chance of being OK, so I don’t think they need to complain about discrimination.

Why do so many white people question events and awards of blacks? You must realize that in doing this, you’re suggesting that the only culture that is important and that should be recognized is what is portrayed in the media. Secondly, what do you care? It’s not setting you back.

Probably for the same reason why folks from Indiana say ‘Warsh’ instead of ‘Wash’ in Hoosier-speak, or some pronounce Oregon ‘Ora-gin’ or ‘Ora-gone’ It’s all about how you grew up. Maybe I could ask ‘Why do White People speak through their nose instead of from their diaphragm?’

Why in God’s name do you hang around people that make you feel that way? Simple solution: Hang around people you feel comfortable around.

Just think about it. It really all has to do with where you produce the sound, and the language you’re speaking. For example, Latin languages are very light and nasal, while Germanic languages are very gutteral. Not much to do with high/low pitch.

I think a more appropriate question would be ‘Why not?’ What does a caucasion care if minorities have their own awards and honors? Does it set you back as a white person? Nope. Bottom line, a white person can still cut a break in America even if other races have their own awards. White people will still be okay if BET exists. I don’t understand why this would even be an issue.
