In Grand Rapids we see many ‘regulars.’ Some are con artists who act poor and have a slick story. My boss helped a guy – got him an apartment, bought some clothes – then found out he had more than $20,000 a year in pension money coming. Six months later we saw him on the street. But the majority are truly in need and want out of their circumstances. The truth is, the homeless people you see are a fraction of the total amount. What do I do? Donate money to shelters and charitable groups.
