Maybe there is a problem with jeolousy. Or, maybe the idea of what they know or think they know about other cultures is something they don’t want to let go of. With religion, it could be simply be not wanting to believe anything different from what they were raised as. If you open yourself up to a different religion, then you start questioning your own beliefs.
