I think you are generalizing from TV and all the reality TV shows with ‘normal people’ – which take place largely in Los Angeles. Many of these are actress wannabe’s, and even if they aren’t, the culture of a movie industry town, including the porno industry, has influenced them. Maybe the ‘strip club’ set, and those in Florida also follow this, but for most Americans, they are weird, too.
