    Thank you for the reply Wayne. I forgot to mention that the message was posted on behalf of a Cultural Diversity class that I instruct. We appreciate your sincerity and upfront response. We have read that Ebonics demonstrate at least some cultural continuity to West African sentence structure and grammatical rules. I am sure the disenfranchisement from formal education that you mentioned had an impact too....very good point. My students would also like to know: What other cultural connections to Africa are seen as prevalent or important to African-Americans?
