First I must state tht i do not like to be called ‘white’ and descibe myself as Beige, because to me ‘white’ has a connotation of bigotry. Just a quirk of mine. As to having close female friends with women of other races, especially Black women, I do have close friend status with at least 3 Black women, 2 Latina, and one Beige, like myself. We all met at work, and have worked closely together for at least 12 years. We socialize as a group outside of work. Baby showers, birthdays, etc. We also have potlucks at work, sharing food and fun. We all refer to each other as family, the newest of us are Asian, one from Cambodia and one Chinese. We exchange ideas and views often, anyone can and does ask any question. Theonly subject we avoid is politics. We had a period of adjustment, a few clashes, that we’ve worked through. our workplace is very diverse, US Postal Service, I can’t see anyone with problems dealing other races lasting very long at this job.
