My experience is that the Bible is full of many contradictory messages. Just one example: The Ten Commandments say ‘Thou shalt not kill,’ but God then instructs the Israelites to slaughter many tribes inhabiting the Holy Land. The Bible can be used to support all sorts of hateful acts, including slavery and genocide – as well as demonization of alternative lifestyles.
