I am a lesbian. I would NOT have CHOSEN this sexual orientation. It just ‘is’. The easiest way to understand that is to ask straight/hetero people why they ‘chose’ to be straight. They will tell you they did not choose to be straight. They just are. Well….same thing here. Although I do believe some people are bisexual and can sorta choose a gender that they will decide to concentrate on.
