I’m not sure if it’s the same thing, not having seen the ‘beakers’ you mention, but in the United States we frequently use coozies/cosies/koozies (pick your preferred spelling) to hold a can or bottle of beer. Most are soft foam cylinders that you fit a can or bottle snugly into with the goal of keeping your hand warm and the bottle/can cold (as most prefer their beer here). There are also sleeker models made out of wetsuit-type material with a zipper up the side, specifically for bottles. If you ever drink beer cold out of a bottle or can, they are indispensable.
