In the past blacks were not allowed to read, therefore when you only ‘hear’ the english language spoken by white slave owners with a southern accent, a mispronunciation will be embedded into black culture. Through generations many blacks were isolated from white society and kept this accent.

I think the fact that there are yahoo groups relating to hairy arms is a direct result of the vast resources available on the net today. Millions like you for the first time can actually discuss this topic openly. It goes without saying that the media can turn any form of beauty into a money making hit, so it takes a person to really look within himslef to find his or her true desires. I for one am a fan myself 🙂

Great answers were given above and another reason is the fact that in the past, blacks were excluded from white activities therefore many blacks now label the variety of activities that whites enjoy as being ‘white’ as a way of defining the meaning of what it means to be black or white. This has a great affect on a young black persons acceptance withing his community.

By itself dating outside your race is and should be as wonderful as any other relationship. However Many may date outside of their race for the wrong reason leaving the other partner feeling as if their minds and souls were not the true point of interest. An example. many young white women date black men because they want to relate to the black hip hop culture while being ignorant of the fact that blacks come in a wide array of possitive lights. And vice versa in relation to a possible stereotipical view a young black man might have toward a white women. Every society has its bad apples so its always healthy to assume that within this shallow world there lies healthy, possitive interracial relationships who imbrace each others minds and not short term fantasies.

You said it yourself, Hispanic Americans. The way the English language is taught in this country just happens to be of the ‘white’ Accent. Therefore unless the Hispanic American has been heavily influenced by his native land, he will continue to speek the English language as is taught and represented in this country.

As was stated above, there is no need for white holidays and magazines because whites are the dominant culture and are represented without the need of a label of race. to say its double standards is to assume this country is not affected by a discriminatory history
