Augustine23576MemberI received the following answer from Lufthansa’s customer relations department: ‘What you saw on one of our aircraft a few years ago was probably a crew rest area. On some of our longhaul aircraft, crew rest seats are blocked off in the area of passenger seats. The curtain is usually drawn to avoid passengers reseating themselves in what they suppose are vacant seats. The curtain is also drawn when crew members sit there in order to rest. Hope that satisfactorily answers your question. We also offer special transportation of sick passengers on stretchers, in which case there is also a curtain around this area, so as not to disturb the sick person and all other guests in that area. This person is always accompanied by an escort, i.e. physician or other who sits in the same blocked off area.’ The only thing I wonder, then, is why was it a window seat completely surrounded by other seats? Seems that would make an awfully inconvenient ‘crew rest area’. The next time I see something like this, I’ll make it a point to ask a flight attendant ‘I don’t mean to be nosy, but what’s that?’.
