Augustine23568ParticipantI’m not a black woman, but I have heard this among Southern blacks and have even said it once or twice myself when I felt comfortable with it. I think it’s a beautiful affirmation of faith. One can be ‘blessed’ even under the adverse circumstances you mention. My personal spirituality (traditional Roman Catholicism) and the good fruit it generates in my everyday life is often more comprehensible to African Americans in my acquaintance than it is to white people.
