I agree. I will admit that while in college, I lightened my hair because my formerly naturally blond hair was turning brown. When I look at pictures from that period, I am appalled (although I always took great pains to make sure my roots didn’t show). I think some people don’t understand the meaning of ‘tacky’ – and that includes women who grow abnormally long fingernails and airbrush them, women who show their midriffs (or rear ends in minutely short shorts) when they have no business doing so. Maybe it will cease when people find ways to tactfully tell their friends that they look cheap!
