AshlarMemberRenee- Here’s what I would think about if I were you: 1) Does your son know that he is uncircumcised and that circumcision is/was an option? Does he know the difference? 2) Does your son feel different at school when he, at that age, begins to compare himself to others, begin to see that many people are circumcised? This may not be an issue depending on the ethnic population of his school. These were the issues that I dealt with, being the ONLY uncircumcised person I encountered until well after high school. I was shy, I felt ashamed and different. I made the decision to be circumcised as an adult to alleviate these concerns. Perhaps you should discuss this with your son and offer to take him to a doctor if you discover that he is unhappy with it. On the other hand, you may find that he’s pleased with his condition. Do what’s best for him. Realize, of course, that you may have to read body language to see how he truly feels if he is very shy about this and help him that way.
