    Are these mullet wearers in their early 40s? I think what happens is that when someone is in their prime, like, say, their early 20s, (1986, if you do the math) they get a stylish haircut that looks good on them and then they just stick with it. For the rest of their life! As you get older it is harder to try new things and stylish new haircuts tend to look weird on you, at least in your own opinion. Although I don’t have a mullet, I have had the same haircut for 20 years because it is comfortable and I think it looks best on my head. Luckily for me, the hairdo I got stuck with is fairly classic. This is not a new phenomenon; I remember as a kid (say about 1976) seeing the old ladies (probably in their 40s!) who still had beehives and the men who still had ducktails and thinking, ‘They look so dorky, why don’t they just feather back their hair like Shaun Cassidy?’
