AmaMemberYes, it hurts your kids as much as the wife. Sometimes more. A child, even a teenage child cannot work these issues out as well as the wife. They feel that they were as lied to as their mom’s were, and that the time dad spent with his mistress was not only time he should’ve spent with mom, but also with them. A girl will have a very hard time trusting men in the future, and have very low self esteem once dad has cheated. A boy can lose respect for his father, and then begin to feel he has no positive male role models. He will at times feel that he is a bad person, or going to be a bad husband himself one day. These effects can last a lifetime, and destroy their families one day as well. If a man cheats on his wife, he needs to take the pain his kids are going through just as seriously as he does his wife’s pain. Family counseling is a must, not just marriage counseling.
