Hot buttons are certainly interesting to me. They could be different for different people. One person can be offended or insulted by what they consider a ‘hot button’, while another person not be offended at all. Perhaps it has to do with sensitivity levels that people have. I know some people are very sensitive, while others are not that sensitive at all. One hot button that I have I experienced when I moved from Wisconsin (where I lived all my life, up to that point) to Pensacola, Florida. People who realized that I came from the ‘north’ would call me a ‘Yankee’. First of all, that literal term to me means being a New York Yankee baseball player. I am not that, nor have I ever been. Then I wondered what the true intent was in making a point of me originating in the north compared to originating in the south. I guess people still have a bitterness related to the Civil War, which took place 1861-1865, over 140 years ago! http://www.civilwar.com/ Another hot button for me is in relation to me being a Christian believer. From time to time, I hear Christians being called ‘holy roller’, or ‘Bible thumper’ or even the term ‘religious’. To me the term religious does not get close enough to the true meaning of having a ‘relationship’. To me the term ‘religious’ is a dry, dead, and ‘drone’ following.
