My mom has noticed that many immigrants (from Hong Kong in the Seattle area and from Iran in the New York suburbs) build houses with double front doors – or, they remodel houses they’ve bought to add double front doors. It seems like there’s more than taste to this – that there’s a folklore or religious belief behind it. Does anyone know where/how the custom arose, and what the meaning is?
