Not only do older people generally look more expensive from a salary standpoint, they are more costly to businesses that offer health benefits. And in fields like film, TV, media, advertising and fashion, they are just considered too unhip to do the job. 35-40 is the end of the road for a lot of industries like that.

Generally, it’s not a case of eligibility, it’s age discrimination that prevents employers from considering older adults. Also, experienced older adults are generally more costly to employ in terms of both salary and benefits. Not fair. Just Curious
