j. flemingMembertoday i participated in an effort to pull things down and drag them around in the mud to the detrement of all readers. i logged on to the board and scanned the list. i saw posts i’d find interesting and educational, but either i had already made up my mind on the subject matter, or it didn’t satisfy my burning, destructive lust for polemic discourse. so, i found me a post that was written in bad faith, and in doing so, discarded another four or so hours nurturing my own bad faith. later on somebody else entered in bad faith. i unloded on her, too. and this happens nearly every day. i can wash it off and i have many pleasant relationships with flesh and blood people, but whenever i can grind an axe, i do. i do it here and on other sites. i’ve done it for as long as i’ve had regular access to a computer with a connection. over those years i’ve posted as a left-anarchist on family.com’s ‘hot topics’ and ‘in the news’ board (now ‘news, views and debate’) as clorigard and leesloy (for which i was booted). ive posted shitty remarks on insane clown posse fansites (political), and slagged various other artists and musicians under cover of keyboard. i post under my real name on about.com’s race relations forum. i’ve posted at indymedia center (chicago and central) as blaiban, and under my own name. similarly i post under my real name and various pseudonyms on yforum. it’s nice that i use my own name what feels like most of the time, but i’m pretty certain that an objective analysis of would find that i’ve posted psedononymously more often than honestly and, with perhaps three exeptions, in bad faith. i’ve perpetrated hoaxes on imc as sandy nista including a false news story that stated that choice was overturned during the post s11 turmoil. naturally, i’ve falsified my identity and in doing so, spoken for demographics other than my own. that all of this was ‘in the intrest of stimulating debate’ is little, if not false justification. polemicism doesn’t make it to aldermanic meetings. polemecism doesn’t bridge racial gaps. it doesnt bring peace to the mid-east or protect civil liberties. worst of all, it nether hurts nor cures the world in the final analasis. i can do better by myself and society as it exists on the message boards of the world by not doing it anymore. and so, this is my last post. my apologies and best wishes, j. fleming
