MichaelPeelerParticipantWhy do so many illegal immigrants try and justify their actions by that old “I didn’t cross the border…the border crossed ME” saying? Every time the border shifted…whether at the end of the Mexican-American war, or through the Gadsden Purchase…the border always moved south. And that resulted in MORE U.S. territory. So if the border really had crossed you (or your family, since the border was settled long before anyone nowadays was born), then “you” would be an American citizen, and wouldn’t have to sneak into the country. I understand why it’s done, of course. If I lived in a country with a failed economy, I’d do whatever I had to in order to get to the U.S. as well. But I wouldn’t try and justify it with some supposedly-clever little saying that makes absolutely no logical sense.
