GusMemberI've heard cases before about people killing a pregnant woman and getting charged with a double homicide. However, a baby can be terminated with partial birth abortion and isn't 'legally' a life until it is 'born'. Is it a life or not?User Detail :

ShirleyAveryParticipantIn the Torah (Five books of Moses in the Old Testament), according to the law, a person who kills a pregnant woman is responsible only for killing the mother, not the fetus. Just CuriousUser Detail :

DotParticipantAs a man you have never gestated a fetus and given birth, and so understandably don't understand what a difficult, unpleasant, painful and expensive process it is to turn an embryo into a human being. Hence, it's the woman's intention for the potential life that makes the difference between an unwanted clump of cells and a fully formed life. Incidentally a fetus has to be to nearly viable stage to be counted as a life in a murder case. Late term (what you're calling "partial birth" - obviously a dittohead) abortion is a rare occurrence and most often the result of complications either with mother or child. Very few women are so flaky that they wait long into their second trimester to have an abortion. When it does happen it usually represents the tragic loss of a wanted pregnancy.User Detail :
