Why do some black male teenagers walk forward with a sort of left-to-right rocking motion? Is this a recent innovation?

Laurie I have been observing this for well over a decade. It is a distictive ghetto walk, akin to Eubonics, an identity of pride I believe.

This is not a recent phenomenon, it has been going on for decades. I think that they think it looks cool, although, some of them look like they have some kind of neurological problem.

I believe it's known as a 'pimp roll'. It began in the 70's as a result of 'blacksploitation' movies. It's a way of 'parading' in public and showing outward confidence and being 'cool'.

I think its more of a swagger in black males then anything. Being black I do have a more of a swagger like I'm the finest person in the world. I do not no if other races do it, but blacks do it because we have a certain swagger about us.
