Why do people who want religious clubs in schools get upset if some students wish to start, say, a Wiccan (Witch) club? If it is student-initiated, doesn’t it deserve the same respect as a Christian or Jewish or Muslim club?

They do deserve the same rights, but people fear and try to supress what they do not understand. Part of the fear is that parents think a Wiccan Club will make more Wiccans. Actually, this can be true if a student hasn’t heard of Wicca before or was interested in it and didn’t know it, but the same is true for any other clubs. Of course, I go to UW Oshkosh… we have Obsidian Englightenment (snickers)
