EugeneParticipantBecause the Koran preaches violence, hatred, intolerance and oppression. When 9/11 happened, Muslims in mosques all across South Africa rejoiced and became militant and were eager for war. The response was pretty similar throughout the rest of the world. The Islamic world is described as the House of Peace while the rest of the world is described as the House of War to be subjugated, by force if need be, to be brought into the Islamic fold. It is justifiable in terms of the Koran to ill treat or even murder non-Muslims e.g. the dhimmis. These are non-Muslims who are treated as second class citizens for that reason and have special taxes imposed on them and enjoy less protection under the law in Islamic countries. In South Africa, we had the evil system of Apartheid for many years. I am white and have always and will always oppose Apartheid. There were many whites who said that black people were all evil and dangerous etc. but this is not the case. Unfortunately, in the case of Muslims, the Koran teaches them some very bad things and compels them to accept without questioning. People are sometimes murdered if they leave Islam because the Koran condones this. It is very difficult for Muslims to leave the faith because of these threats and because they are discouraged from thinking critically. Those few who do speak out are censored or worse. In other words, most people can be trusted and reasoned with, even if they have been through hundreds of years of hell like the black people in South Africa because they are prepared to debate and think and try to see the other side’s point of view. Muslims are not prepared to do this.

KarimMemberIn my home country people are speaking against it, and they are loud and clear. Refer to some of the major online Egyptian dailies (some of them have English versions). The problem is we are not given a chance to speak. FOX and its brethren, it seems is only interested in the crazies.

Karyn26784ParticipantI was once on a message board where someone alleged that the muslim world was silent on the subject of 9/11. I knew that was wrong, but he wasn’t going to take my word for it. So, I went online to find some cites and was stunned at all the things I found. There were many more outspoken, strongly-worded, muslim-faith-based condemnations of terrorism and violence and fanatism than I had ever seen or been made made aware of. At least some of them got wide media coverage during that critical time, but far from all! These days, I don’t think major media outlets are making this sort of thing a priority. Muslim leaders and organizations could be saying a lot of great things that we’d never know about without attending their mosques and their community events.
