I go to the gym 5 days a week and I have noticed that old people smell a lot more and a lot more often than younger people. Their smell is also noticeably different. In many buildings in Manhattan, I have encountered what I call the ‘old people smell.’ There was an old man who was my neighbor and his old apartment had the smell, which was a mixture of sweat, BO and rotting books. At the gym yesterday I could smell an old man behind me without even looking and when I turned around, there was an old man reading the paper. I was just wondering if anyone had any theories.. Do they not wash as often? Is it their clothes? This guy was wearing just normal gym clothes.
