Why do most cultures allow poultry on the menu?

    Many cultures or religious organizations that allow the consumption of animal flesh have dietary restrictions or taboos – i.e., shellfish, pork, cat, dog, rat, insects. But I have yet to find a taboo against poultry! Any ideas?
