I have been told by someone who is indeed not racist that it is well-known that as a whole, black people don’t tip at restaurants or bars. Apparently this is common knowledge with bartenders? I was also told that for a while, the diner Denny’s would ask black people to show their money before ordering so they wouldn’t run off after eating. Does this rumor just spread in specific regions of the US, is it a stereotype found throughout the country, or is this nonsense? Please be honest, especially if you work as someone who benefits from tips.
