Why are Christians so hostile toward homosexuals? Every time I ask this of a Christian, they tell me that the Bible calls homosexuality a sin, and they quote those four passages. But the Bible says that LOTS of things are sins, and in the grand scheme of the Bible, homosexuality is a relatively minor issue. It’s not one of the 10 Commandments and Jesus never said anything about it. The passages that discuss homosexuality also say that actions such as divorce or sex outside marriage are just as heinous, yet Christians do not feel as strongly against these transgressions. Homosexuality does not hurt or even affect straight people. So why are Christians so threatened by it? Part 2 of my question is, why do Christians insist that the rest of us adhere to their beliefs on this issue (by trying to ban gay marriages)? I don’t want to offend anyone, but I do hope someone can give me a more thorough answer than that ‘the Bible says it’s wrong.’
