I was wondering what most women use as an aid for masturbation. My girlfriend uses the stream of water from the faucet in the bathtub. Is this a method many women use?

I have had this discussion with many of my friends. Their methods vary, but they include vibrators, hairbrushes and even food items such as cucumbers. There is information about this in many books, such as Our Bodies, Ourselves, The Hite Report and Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Sex (But Were Afraid to Ask).

I use a vibrator and a water-based lubricant. I experimented with different sizes and models until I discovered what was most pleasurable for me. There are times when I can use my finger, but this is less effective. The constant, consistent and more intense vibration created by a vibrator has proven to give me the greatest level of intensity necessary to bring me to orgasm. Direct stimulation to the clitoris allows me to climax. I didn’t learn to masturbate until my late 20s. I’d encourage women to be more open to exploring their own bodies more and to be more willing to experiment with their sexuality with respect to physically loving themselves. Masturbation has been quite liberating for me. I’d recommend Sex For One: The Joy of Selfloving by Betty Dodson. I’d like to know why women are so hesitant to enjoy themselves but so free to allow someone else the pleasure of their sacred selves?

If your girlfriend enjoys the stream of water from the bathtub faucet, she will LOVE the jets of a whirlpool or jacuzzi. Do yourself and her a favor, and the next time you stay at a hotel, splurge and get a room with an in-room jacuzzi (like my lover and I recently did). She’ll thank you for a long time to come (pun intended), but beware, she may insist on installing one at home!

I discovered the ‘stream of water in the bathtub’ method myself, when I was going through puberty and was trying desperately to clean up what I saw as a terrible bloody mess. At the same time, I found out that orgasms relieved my menstrual cramps. (Of course, at the time, I didn’t know what to call what was happening to me, but I knew that I liked it.) I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of women had made the same discovery. Or both of the same discoveries. Now, of course, I’m old enough that scrambling under the faucet is no longer an option. That’s what the shower massage is for.

wow, i can not believe this. Two years ago my friend finally broke down and told me her big secret. It was the water thing. She first introduced it to me in their back yard hot tub. I was hooked. For some reason we thought we were the only ones who knew about this. I guess not, maybe there is more to her story than just ‘creativity’ I still use the faucet method but beware, doing this too much let me to a mild yeast infection. When the gyno was questioning me, so rambled off suggestions for the casue: hot tubs, hot water, too many baths… haha of course i was too embarsed to tell her, but I have limited myself. As far as aiding your menstrual pains, it only intensifed mine. humm?
