Was it really like that in Afghanistan?

Before the attack on the World Trade Center in New York, there were reports of horrible conditions for women in Afghanistan. Then, after the attack, the media went wild on the burqa (veil) and public beatings of women. I’d like to hear from someone who lived in or visited Afghanistan while it was under the Taliban regime: do you think the U.S./Western media coverage was accurate and fair in its depiction of life in that country?

The burqua was worn in Afghanistan before the Taliban….American women still make 77 cents to the man’s dollar – I’m sure it’s much less for minority women. An American woman is domestically abused every 5 minutes. Incest and child molestation are on the rise in America.
