I have always been curious where, when and why Black people began to pronounce the work 'ask' as 'aks' and 'asked' as 'aksed'. I have aksed (sic) some Black friends and none of them seemed to know but they all pronounced it 'aks'. I haven't heard any other groups use this pronunciation anywhere. Thanks for letting me ask and I am serious in this question.
