The Ten Percent Rule

    I am a Baptist but have a problem with tithing (Malachi 3:10). It is mentioned in the Old Testament, but not as a mandate in the New Testament. To Christians: Can you please explain why we are supposed to tithe, according to the New Testament? I’d prefer answers that are Bible based, not necessarily what you have heard.

    As far as I know, there is nothing in the New Testament that requires a 10 percent tithe, though St. Paul does say in one of his epistles that Christians should support the local church. How much is never specified, though.
