Although I quit smoking about 8 years ago I still often miss it. I smoked between 2 and 3 packs a day. I got addicted because I loved everything about smoking–the taste, the way it calmed me down, having something to do with my hands. I could hide behind my smoke in a way. People light up when they don’t have time to smoke a whole cig because when you NEED to smoke, even a puff or two will have to do. I feel as though I was a slave to nicotine; it was hard to sit thru a movie without wanting to smoke. I tried to quit three times before I actually succeeded. It was a compulsion and an addiction. I just loved the feeling of sucking that smoke in and it’s just that simple. Hope that helps?
