Why do people believe in religious dogma that is more than 2,000 years old?

One of the major prejudices in our society is that we turn away from the ‘old’ in favor of the ‘new.’ To me, there is something awe-inspiring to know that my God has been working in this world since the beginning, and that I share the same worship practices with people living in the ancient world. It inspires my trust and confidence to know that any doubt I have has been shared many times over in the past.
