I’m curious as to why people often use the word ‘Spanish’ as a way of referring to Latinos/Hispanics (even some Latinos/Hispanics do this) Yes, we tend to speak Spanish, but that doesn’t make us all the same. ‘Spanish’ is a nationality (meaning people from Spain). Using this term in reference to Latinos/Hispanics is like saying that we are all the same and have the same culture and system of beliefs. This is not true, and the differences that exist in the Latino/Hispanic community should be acknowledged and respected.
