As a Christian theologian as well as an historian, I can tell you that there are two reasons for the Christian’s objection to homosexual practice. First, you must understand that I view the Bible as a whole, not as fragmented into an anachronistic outmoded Old Testament and an in-vogue New Testament. One of the Apostles says ‘All scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching and doctrine’. Jesus said, ‘I did not come to destroy the Torah or the Prophets–I came not to destroy but to fulfill.’ This means that if God says something specific about how He feels about a moral issue in the OT He still feels the same about it in the NT. God specifically called homosexuality an abomination in the OT. In Revelation, it is said that no one who practices abomination will enter the heavenly realms–period. Not only are we concerned that practicing homosexuals are excluded from God’s presence but their lifestyle presents an abominable example for impressionable young people as well as society in general and therefore degrades our national morality.
