No, I don’t think so. I read somewhere that out of all gay men of different races, black men tend to either prefer other races of men as opposed to your own or was indiscriminate of other races as potential mates. I personally am the exception and prefer black men over white and other races and I am black also. I wasn’t exposed to whites until college, so that’s a major factor. I think it’s all about exposure, confidence, experience, comfort, and preconceived notions about other groups (in this case, your own race)that decides who is suitable or preferred by your tastes.

I think it becomes a bigger deal because gay men already feel enough stigmatization and lack of acceptance from the outside world, that when something superficial like physical attraction comes to the forefront, rejection may feel significantly worse. I think it’s more than a matter of muscles or looks. Suffice it to say, for roughly every single gay man who’s really selective about who he likes, there’s another one who carries that selection into his friendships, too. Callous? Oh sure. The real kicker is, let’s say you’re online and you provide every vital statistic you can just shy of your ethnicity or some characteristics that might give it away. Then you drop the race bomb. The conversation goes dead. Coincidence?

Let’s assume that 10% of the population is gay. That means that about 5% are gay men and 5% are lesbians. For simple calculations, let’s say that there’s a room of 100 people that you walk into. If they match society’s breakdowns, about 24 of them will be non-white. Of those 24, 12 will be female and 12 will be male. Of the 12 males, 1.2 of them will be gay and non-white. Out of the whole room, 5 men will be gay and 3.8 of them will be white. Since your choices on who to date are so limited to begin with, trying to stay within your own race if it’s non-white limits them even more. Love and Light

Think about straight men: Lots of them are attracted to certain “types” of women. Talk to one, he’ll tell you he likes tall women, or black women, or skinny women, or redheads, or women with big butts. It’s the same with gay men. You just have a favorite type, that’s all. It would be unusual if you were attracted to every male you saw, wouldn’t it? On the bright side, there are lots of gay white men who really REALLY LOVE black men. So you shouldn’t have much trouble.
