Darrin-OParticipantI would like to know if it is normal, or common, for females to have a bad odor from their genital area. If so, is this a problem of bad hygiene?

KamalaMemberMost women have a distinctive natural scent, but it is not supposed to be offensive or overbearing. If this is the case, the woman may simply need lessons on how to appropriately clean her genitals, or she may have a more serious infection that needs to be attended to by a physician.User Detail :

LSBParticipantIf she has a noticebly strong odor, then she need to go have it checked out. It could be an STD or something. And also, even if it is just a yeast infection, she needs to be treated. If not, she can pass it on to you---generally doesn't have any symptoms, but she will continue to have recurring infections because you will be cross-'contaminating'.User Detail :

DianaParticipantThe sense of smell is highly relative, and so what is 'good' and 'bad' varies. Do you like the color yellow? If not, does that mean its a 'bad' color? Yes, there is an unattractive, pungent odor when someone has an infection, and a fishy odor if they are unclean. But a musky and sometimes strong smell is natural. Our society has programmed us to think that the natural smell of the human body is offensive with all the marketed perfumes and deodorants. Take a look at your own perceptions to see if you have bought into this mentality.User Detail :
