In Bloomington, Minnesota, there is a local motel called the Thunderbird Inn. It is decorated with a Native American ‘theme.’ There is a totem pole outside (I don’t know if it’s real). Inside, there are portraits and statues of Native Americans, weapons, and animal heads. The gift store is called ‘Smoke Signals,’ and the meeting rooms have the names of tribes. The swimming pools have big pictures of Native American warriors’ heads on the bottom. Is this offensive?
