What exactly are Mormon beliefs? Do the followers believe there's a planet Klobb?

I am not Mormon and do not have the answer to your question. I just wanted to congratulate you for asking it. When I was your age I was being brainwashed by my Presbyterian church that Mormons, and Mormonism, were Satanic and horrible. Certainly they hold some beliefs that are probably very different from your own - but don't blindly accept the propaganda that comes from the traditional Christian right. If you are curious (and you clearly are), ask questions, meet some Mormons, do some independent reading and thinking, and make up your own mind. Good for you!

I think you may be confusing Mormons with the Church of Scientology, which has some very interesting beliefs about where we came from, who we are and our universe.

PART 1 of 2 PARTS I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, otherwise known as the Mormons. We are so-called because of our belief in a book of scripture called The Book of Mormon. In order to answer the first part of your question, I am going to quote what we call the 'Articles of Faith'. These were written by the founding prophet of the church to a newspaper in the 19th century who asked the same type of question you asked. They lay out the basic tenets of the gospel: 1 WE believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. 2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression. 3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel. 4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. 5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof. 6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth. 7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth. 8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. 9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. PART 2 of 3 PARTS 10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory. 11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may. 12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law. 13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

PART 3 of 3 PARTS So, as you can see, Mormons are Christians who believe in Christ, God (Heavenly Father) and the Holy Ghost. We believe in modern revelation, and believe that a prophet leads our church today. We believe in the Bible, and the Book of Mormon. We also believe in two other books as scripture: The Doctrine & Covenants is a book of revelations received by early prophets of the church, most notably Joseph Smith, the first prophet of this modern day church. The other book is the Pearl of Great Price, which is a book of translated ancient scripture and other revelations received by Joseph Smith. It also contains the early history of the church as written by Joseph Smith.

As far as your question about 'Klobb', the correct term is Kolob. In the Pearl of Great Price, a portion of the scripture discusses a planet that is near to God, and the name of it is Kolob. When studying a religion, it is important to deal with the fundamentals first, and not go directly to 'perimeter' beliefs. I think this is true of any religious or philosophical study. You can't really grasp the spirit of a religion without understaning the most basic tenets. After that, the 'deeper' beliefs can be put into context. I really admire the enlightened attitude of the earlier poster, who advised you to talk to Mormons about their own religion, instead of relying on the words of those who do not practice this religion. That is good advice for someone seeking any information about any religious practice. Good luck with your search. I hope you find what you are looking for.

The actual name of our Church is the 'Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,' and are often referred to as 'Mormons.' We do not believe in a planet 'Klobb.' We worship the namesake of our religion: Christ. If we worshipped some other being, his or her or its name would be in the title of the name of our Church. We believe that Christ was resurrected and that with His resurrected body, He lives somewhere, but where, I doubt anyone knows. We are called Mormons because of an additional set of scriptures we use called 'The Book of Mormon.' To us, this book is a collection of the Lord's instructions to the ancient peoples of the Americas, and which is a second testament, a second witness of the reality and mission of Christ. We believe this book to be written by descendants of Joseph, who was sold into Egypt, the son of Jacob (called Israel). We believe these descendants traveled to the Americas, that they fled Jerusalem at the time of King Zedekiah. We believe in the Bible as long as it is translated correctly, and we use the King James version, believing it to be the most correct of the translations. It is not hard for Mormons to believe that many other scriptures were recorded by peoples all over the earth at various times in history. My Jesuit Priest law professor at Gonzaga University told me that Catholics also believe in the existence of scriptures other than the books and letters of scripture contained in the Bible, such as The Dead Sea Scrolls. We believe this because the Tribes of Israel were scattered to the four corners of the earth, and each was part of 'The Chosen People' of Israel. Consequently, if the Israelites, or their descendants, can be found throughout the world, certainly the Lord would communicate with each Tribe to give them the Word of the Lord, or scriptures, in order to give them instructions on how to achieve eternal happiness and also how to be able to live peaceably with others on this earth, for the Lord is not a respecter of nationalities. We believe we can be saved by the Grace of God, after all we can do. So, after we put our best efforts into life to help others, to learn and to develop qualities that will be beneficial throughout the eternities, the Lord makes up for our deficiencies with the Atonement to save us from our sins.

Mormons believe that Kolob is the name of the sun in the solar system where God's planet is located. It governs all the planets of the same order. One day on God's planet by Kolob's reckoning is a thousand days on earth.

Latter Day Saints believe in three books of scripture: the Bible, the Book of Mormon and the Pearl of Great Price. The Pearl of Great Price is where Mormons get the information on Kolob. We believe the Pearl of Great Price contains writings from Abraham and Moses. Contained with the Abraham writings are a few passages that describe a place called Kolob, which is where we believe our Heavenly Father exists. The writings do not imply we are from there or that it is where we are going. The passages in Abraham are interesting to us, but that's about it, as they do not 'save my soul,' so to speak. Church leaders have made comments over the years but the Pearl of Great Price is the best source for our actual beliefs on the subject.

Do you mean Kolob? We believe that God has a perfected body (why else would we be visible if man was 'created in the image of God'?) that He is on a planet orbiting the star God calls Kolob. We also believe that this doesn't really matter a whole lot, just that it's an interesting thing to know. If Klobb is the correct spelling, all I can say is that I've never heard of it, so it's definitely not the center of our beliefs.

My dad was born into the faith and my mom is a convert. So I've got two totally different perspectives on it. I have experienced it from both sides, because I haven't always been a practicing Mormon. The 'planet' is actually 'Kolob,' not Klobb. All it signifies is that part of heaven where God lives, nothing more. Mormons aren't really into the New Age stuff. We're actually more like mainstream Christians. We absolutely believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior. That's the most important thing to us. 'Latter-Day Saints' refers to the 'old' meaning of Saints, which was simply a disciple or follower of Christ, not someone 'holy' as Catholics believe. So you could say that we're the Church of Jesus Christ of his 'modern-day followers'.

Actually there is no where in Mormon doctrine that states that Kolob is the 'sun' in God's solar system. There is no doctrine that states that God lives on a planet. Where God lives is not specifically noted in mormon doctrine. It is mormon doctrine that God has created multipule worlds and Kolob is the planet closest to God.
