WHY IS THERE ALWAYS SOMETHING NEGATIVE BEING SAID ABOUT AFRICA? So many have even called Africa a country, hello! it is a CONTINENT. I am a Nigerian and a proud one at that, which is why it hurts me every time people ask me if we wear clothes in Africa. Then they talk about accents, u guys also have accents to me. The English language originated from the British, and there have been variations from years of assimilation and association. And yeah to negate all stereotypes, we have hip hop; rap music, r&b, jazz and so many other forms of music. We are not a continent stricken with HIV and AIDS as so many of you are led to believe and I can only speak for Nigeria because I haven’t been to too many places in the continent of Africa. We are not ‘local,’ we do speak very good english and I have been speaking it all my life. We have lovely cuisine! Also take note, I have never witnessed a war in my life! I am writing from the stand point of ‘being there done that.’ I came to the United States last year June, so…. P.S America is a’ight, it is not all that!
