Having moved to Texas within the last five years, I’ve noticed that many Texans prefer to drive in the ‘fast’ lane (left) instead of following proper driving laws and staying to the right when driving slower. I’ve noticed this of Texans driving in other states also (California, Kansas, etc.) Why do these Texans feel it is OK to drive whereever they want?

I have noticed in England that people tend to stick in the fast lane. I think people see the lanes as Slow, fast and faster instead of Slow, fast and overtake.

Whether it is against the law or not people will continue to drive in the ‘fast lane’. I grew up in Houston and in neither drivers ed nor my many definsive driving classes was this phenomena ever mentioned. Considering that in Houston people usually drive fast and quite aggressive why wouldn’t one want to drive in the lane moving the quickest??
