Kwanzaa is not a version of Christmas. Neither is Hanukkah, St. Anne's Day, or anyother December based holiday. It is a celebration of ethnicity. Christmas is a religious holiday, whereas Kwanzaa is not. Kwanzaa is a time where African Americans take time to give respect to thier ancestors and to reflect on the values that we need to embody. It is a time to get away from the commercialism that is plaguing Christmas. Did you bother to research the holiday before you made such an uneducated remark? Would you say the same thing about Hanukkah, or the Chinese New Year? Just because you don't celebrate it doesn't mean that someone is going on a 'racial trip' as you so ignorantly put it!

Do you really think that God is pleased the way we not only celebrate the birth of His son, but the way we live our lives from day to day? Kwanzaa is not a religious holiday, it's a cultural holiday that was created to make individuals more concious and responsible to themselves and their community. If you have a problem with that maybe your the problem. God is probably more offended by you and your narrow-minded 'whiteness' trip.

...I think the notion of a sloppy, obese, unshaven White man sliding down my chimney in a tacky red suit to give my son presents, climbing his fat ass back up my chimney and riding away in a sleigh guided by eight reindeer is equally ridiculous. So I told my son at an early age that there was no such thing as Santa Claus, and that I, mommy, bought him all those cool gifts under the tree. And at Easter, I told him I bought him the candy and dyed the eggs, not the Easter Bunny. And when he lost his baby teeth, I told him I gave him the loot, not the damned Tooth Fairy. Now, Missy...tell me again which celebration sounds ridiculous??

It's great that you are so spiritual that you feel the ability to speak on G-d's behalf. But Kwanzaa, even though I don't celebrate it, is a celebration that is not to take the place of Christmas but to celebrate certain principles and African heritage. Would G-d be angry about Jews not celebrating the birth of Christ and celebrating Kwanzaa during the holiday season. Or would He become angry at Muslims for Ramadan or Hindus for Diwali. It's a bit hypocritical for you to be so blissfully ignorant and call yourself Christian.

And He wouldn't be offended by the commercialization of Christmas? White people and every other race in America celebrate their heritage, so why can't we?

Kwanzaa is a devisive holiday created by Black power radicalists to further separate Blacks from Whites. America should try not to draw distinctions between Black and White but we should just celebrate Christmas if you're a Christians, Hanukkuah is your'e a Jew, et... What if White people started celebrating Japethia, a holiday where they embraced their White hertiged and praised God and tried to work together for the benefit of other White people. Blacks would outcry it as racist. Kwanzaa is really a very, very stupid idea. It was created by a whacked out Black college proffessor. The other thing I think that is important to make clear is most American Blacks have virtually no connection with Africa. They came here as slaves hundreds of years ago and have so much mixed ancestry in them (Mullatto, American Indian, et...) that they really aren't the same people as the people who live in Africa today. They are a very separate ethnic group so trying to draw any African Pride is like having someone who's part Mexican do a White pride ceremony.
