We're Jews and we drive Toyotas because they're better cars than Fords. My father-in-law owns a Ford. But I've heard of older Jews who won't own Fords, won't listen to Wagner, etc. These are usually people with European roots who have memories of the Holocaust. Most younger Jews would rather put their energies toward Ahmedinejhad than long dead Henry Ford.

Is it true that Jewish people don't buy Fords, to this day, because Henry Ford had such a reputation as an anti-Semite?

While most Jews would buy a Ford if that was the car they preferred, they are also aware that Henry Ford was a vicious anti-semite. Many Jews will not buy a Volkwagen (Hitler's 'People's Car'),although most Jews would not shy away from going to Disneyland, even though we know now that "Uncle Walt" was anti-semitic.

I have never heard of this issue. The subject came up when I was a teenager (1970), and my Grandpa said he would not buy a German car. My Dad said (around that time) it did not matter to him. However, I would worry about some guy at work if he started quoting Henry Ford regarding the way the world worked.

It is true there are those who do not buy Fords for that reason, but it is definitely a very small minority. There is however a large amount of jewish people that will not buy German cars, such as Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW, etc...

I have lived 54 years on this planet as a Jew, in America, England and Israel, and I haven't heard this one yet! I'm not saying there isn't a Jew somewhere still holding out against old Henry Ford for his views, but I myself drive a Ford Windstar. I just don't drive it to synagogue on the Saturday because that would be breaking the Sabbath! We do have very long memories. My grandfather, of blessed memory, traveled all over Europe, but wouldn't set Spain because of the Inquisition, and that was over 400 years ago! Naomi

I've never heard that before. I'm not sure if its true or not but I can definatly see how some of the jewish faith would choose to not buy ford. I can also definatly see how they would not but German made cars. Just to point out though, not all Germans are nazis.

While there might be some individual Jews who won't buy a Ford because of Henry's anti-semitism, there is no widespread (let alone institutionalized) practice not to.
